Chris Sante won a new two-year term on the Islamorada Village Council when election qualifying closed Tuesday.

Sante, 51, did not draw an opponent in the race for his Seat 2. He served two terms as council mayor.

“I'm pretty happy,” said Sante, a business owner first elected in 2002. “It's an extremely good feeling to know the residents apparently feel I'm representing them well.”

Islamorada, Village of Islands municipal offices have moved to the second floor of the Islamorada Professional Center at Mile Marker 82 Bayside. This move was made necessary due to damage from Hurricane Wilma.
